Community Volunteer Day: Tending to Dynamic Accumulators -  Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2pm-4pm

In this Community Volunteer Day, participants will learn about Unadilla Community Farm’s Northeast SARE funded 2-year study on dynamic accumulators, while performing springtime maintenance on beds of several dynamic accumulator species.

Community Volunteer Day: Herb Propogation-  Saturday, June 14th, 2025 at 10am-12pm

Participants learn how to propagate perennial herbs by rooting softwood cuttings with willow water, which has been shown in studies to increase the rate of success for softwood cuttings. We also cover how to make propagation soil mix, set up a propagation station, and care for cuttings while they root. Each participant takes home 2 potted cuttings of their choice!

Community Volunteer Day: Garlic Harvesting-  Saturday, July 18th, 2025 at 9am-12pm

Participants help with harvesting bulbs of hardneck garlic, which is slated for donation to food pantries. We teach proper growing techniques for hardneck garlic and the harvesting and curing processes. Each participant took home half a dozen fresh garlic bulbs, to cure at home or eat fresh!

Community Volunteer Day: Herb Transplanting-  Saturday, July 18th, 2025 at 10am-12pm

Participants learn proper transplanting and maintenance techniques for perennial herbs. We teach how to prepare the beds, transplant, water them in, mulch, and set up drip irrigation. Each person takes home 1 potted plant of their choice!

Community Volunteer Day: Farm Tour-  Saturday, July 18th, 2025 at 2pm-4pm

This 2-hour in-depth tour includes a walk-through of the food forest & explanation of our natural building projects. We have plenty of time to answer questions about agroforestry, permaculture design, eco construction, and more! This is a ticketed event starting at $5.

Community Volunteer Day: Garlic Planting-  Saturday, September 13th, 2025 at 2pm-4pm

Participants learn how to prepare the bulbs and soil for planting & how to build and use a dibbler wheel. Unadilla Community Farm grows and donates about 4,500 bulbs per season to regional food pantries!

Community Volunteer Day: Garlic Cleaning-  Saturday, September 27th, 2025 at 2pm-4pm

Participants learn how to clean garlic bulbs, to prepare the garlic for donation to food pantries. This is a family-friendly activity suitable for all ages and abilities because it is a seated volunteer day. Participants take turns helping on 3 different stations: snipping off garlic stems, trimming roots, and peeling off the outer layer of garlic skin. Each participant takes home a quart of garlic!
